Left: This graph shows past (1990-2004) and projected (2010) emissions due to industrial processes (non-energy related), and compares them with gross value added in industry
The EU15 target including Kyoto mechanisms and sinks is based on an estimated projected use of Kyoto mechanisms and activities under Article 3.3 and 3.4 (carbon sinks)
Gross value added is the difference between output and intermediate consumption for any given sector, i.e
International comparisons
Reported greenhouse gas emissions follow UNFCCC guidelines and refer to national transport only (excluding emissions from international bunkers).
For some Accession Countries for some gases data gaps have been filled by interpolation or using previous year emissions
Final electricity consumption is the electricity consumption of the final energy demand sectors, it does not include own use by electricity producers or transmission and distribution losses
The column on the right (2010 projections excluding over-delivery) represents the projected EU-15 emission reduction if over-deliveries achieved by some Member States were not available to the rest of the EU-15
Base-year emissions are determined in Initial reports, submitted in 2006 and undergoing UNFCCC review in 2007
The orange bars show the factors that have an increasing effect on emissions and the green bars show the factors that have a reducing effect
