Much information on the use of economic instruments for environmental protection and natural resource management is available in a new database. This is the result of collaboration between the EEA, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and DG Environment of the European Commission.

Much information on the use of economic instruments for environmental protection and natural resource management is available in a new database. This is the result of collaboration between the EEA, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and DG Environment of the European Commission.

The database covers 42 countries, including all EEA member countries and countries working with the EEA under the Stability Pact, as well as the non-European OECD countries. Currently focussed on environmental taxes and charges, the database will be extended later to environmentally motivated subsidies, tradable emission permit systems, deposit-refund systems, and voluntary approaches (e.g. negotiated environmental agreements).

The database is accessible via the OECD's website.
