the European Chemicals Bureau (ECB) was established within the Environment Institute of JRC Ispra with effect of 1st January, 1993. The principal task of the bureau is to carry out and coordinate the scientific/technical work which is needed for the implementation of EU legislation (directives, regulation) in the area of chemical control.
