See all EU institutions and bodiesA live webinar dedicated to raising awarness to the effects of climate change on the risks raised by mycotoxins, that can produce severe health effects.
Rising temperatures due to climate change are increasing the risk of human exposure to so-called mycotoxins, naturally occurring toxins produced by fungi found in certain foods, feed and crops.
EEA's role in the event
Exposure to these toxins is linked to severe health effects, including carcinogenicity, endocrine disruption, and neurotoxicity, shows a European Environment Agency briefing to be published on 10 March. Leveraging human biomonitoring (HBM) data from the HBM4EU initiative, the briefing provides evidence on dietary exposure to mycotoxins, revealing concerns for public health.
The LIVE webinar hosted by the EU Health Policy Platform will bring together experts from the European Environment Agency, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the National Public Health School (ESNP – Portugal), the German Environment Agency (UBA – DE), to discuss the briefing's findings and the best way to prevent the rise in contamination.
